Paul Marquillanes, the "father of Saint-Charles"

The sixties: saw Algeria gain its independence and the beginning of the Spanish economic and agricultural boom, which led importers to group together. Led by Chairman Paul Marquillanes, a core of professionals was formed to set up the project with private funding only, in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Beginning of 1971,
the Saint-Charles International Market opened its doors. From 104,000 tonnes of fruit and vegetable handled in 1971, Saint-Charles International and its hinterland are now handling 1,350,000 tonnes in 2005!P>

1970 Creation of the Saint-Charles International Market (MISC)

1976 Creation of the MISC Site Association

1993 Opening of the Single Market

1997 Attribution of the " European interest" label to the Pyrénées Méditerranée Multimodal Hub

2000 Creation of the private electronic community

2001 Setting up of a quality initiative validated by the DGCCRF

2002 Setting up of a real-time data base and of an online declaration system

2003 The MISC became Saint-Charles International

2005 Moving towards a European food safety logistics hub.

2007 Création de Saint Charles Export

2007 Le Syndicat National des Importateurs de Fruits et Légumes devient le Syndicat National des Importateurs/Exportateurs de Fruits et Légumes
